Saturday 14 May 2005
Emmons Creek Bird Observatory and Waupaca Field Station
E110 Emmons Creek Road
Waupaca, WI
Phone: 715-258-7247 - E-mail: welchr@execpc.com
This is a research and ornithological monitoring site. Migration monitoring occurs throughout spring, however the public is invited to participate in releases, and observe the processing of birds as they arrive to the processing centers. A brief tour of some net lanes will be provided during slow periods. Canopy and ground-based nets will be utilized. Several licensed banders will be operating the nets and overseeing the processing procedures. A parallel research project sampling insects eaten by migratory birds and habitat utilization at all levels of the forests will also be featured, and will provide more opportunities for public participation. Cameras and binoculars a must. Directions.
